State of the evidence: Synthesis of abortion coverage and its impact

On June 24, 2022, the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs v. Jackson’s Women’s Health Organization case. The Supreme Court declared that the US Constitution does not protect the right to abortion, which allowed states to enact their own laws regarding abortion care and access. Funding restrictions on abortion care force people struggling to afford an abortion to make immediate financial sacrifices that have adverse short- and long-term effects on the health and well-being of themselves and their families.
