Accuracy of self-selection for medication abortion using a prototype drug facts label

Medication abortion (MA) with mifepristone and misoprostol likely meets the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) criteria for over-the-counter (OTC) sale. Among the FDA’s requirements for OTC approval is evidence demonstrating that people seeking MA can self-assess MA eligibility using prototype OTC packaging. We examined abortion patients’ accuracy of self-selection to use MA using only a prototype OTC package and drug facts label (DFL).
